DAY SIX: QATAR CLASSIC SEMI-FINALS

DAY SIX: QATAR CLASSIC SEMI-FINALS

Qatar Squash Federation

Just four contenders are left after last night’s dramatic quarter-finals.

Germany’s fourth seed Simon Rosner made his first Platinum series semi-final here last year, and will be looking to go one better as he takes on young Peruvian Diego Elias, who sensationally beat defending champion Mohamed El Shorbagy to reach his first Platinum semi-final. They’ve only met once before, with Rosner prevailing in the 2016 World Champs, but both have moved up substantially since then.

The second semi is an all-Egyptian affair between second and third seeds Ali Farag and Tarek Momen. Farag is appearing in his first Qatar semi-final while Momen will be hoping to reach a second consecutive final.  Momen leads 3-2 in the H2H, moving ahead by winning last month’s dramatic Channel VAS final (11-9 in the fifth after 87 minutes!).
