EGYPT

Egypt's Ali Farag claimed his second PSA Platinum title as he beat German Simon Rosner in straight games in front of a packed crowd - mainly rooting for him - at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha.

Farag's defense of his first Platinum title win, the US Open, was crushed by Rosner last month when the pair met in semi-finals of the 2018 edition of the event, but the World No.2 earned his revenge with a near faultless display to down Rosner 11-9, 11-7, 11-5.

President of Qatar Tennis Federation Nasser Ghanem Al Khulaifi crowned the Egyptian champion with the trophy and the runner-up with the second place prize.

"This is one of the tournaments I should be the most proud of because I've played with all top players from the very first round. The Qatar Classic title is a huge advantage, I am so proud of it, I hope to keep coming back every year for sure," said Farag.

"He was the better player today. He didn’t make any errors, he was just too good, I am very happy for him and he deserves the win," said Rosner.
