SYDNEY SWANS FOOTBALL CLUB VISIT ASPETAR

Doha, Qatar- Aspetar, the orthopaedic and sports medicine hospital welcomed the Australian Sydney Swans Football Club on Thursday, 1st November. The team were briefed about the services that the hospital provides for athletes and received a comprehensive tour of Aspetar’s facilities.

During the visit, Tom Harley, CEO of Sydney Swans, expressed his admiration for Aspetar’s facilities and services, and said; “This place is absolutely world-class when it comes to high performance. We have come in with open minds for ways we can improve and have learnt a lot from Aspetar about training techniques, gym equipment and podiatry. There is plenty for us to take back with us to Sydney.”

During the Australian visit to Aspetar, athletes from the Sydney club were given medical check-ups and comprehensive screening, including a treadmill test which measures foot distribution pressure.

At the end of the tour, the Captain of the Sydney Swans Football club, Josh Kennedy, said; “This is my first visit to Aspetar and it is a marvellous place for sports medicine. It has been an incredible experience to witness the first-class facilities and resources on offer to athletes and is something that I have never seen before. It is well worth athletes spending a week or two at Aspetar in preparation for a big season or campaign.”

Aspetar boasts one of the most advanced medical departments in the region, which is integral to the hospital’s multidisciplinary approach to athlete management. Aspetar’s method focuses on the assessment and treatment of injured athletes by implementing personalised injury treatment programmes. Many of the world’s elite athletes chose Aspetar for screening, treatment, surgery and rehabilitation services.

Over the past few years a number of clubs have taken advantage of Aspetar’s facilities, including; the Australian national swim team and Carlton Australian football club.  It is worth noting that Aspetar is cementing its leading role in the treatment and prevention of injury to local, regional and international athletes across all sports within its mission to assist athletes to achieve their maximum performance and full potential.
