FARES IBRAHIM CLAIMS BRONZE MEDAL AT WORLD WEIGHTLIFTING CHAMPIONSHIPS

Ashgabat, Turkmenistan- Qatar's Fares Ibrahim claimed the bronze medal of Men's 96 kilograms event at the 2018 International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) World Championships being held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.

Ibrahim finished the Clean and Jerk event in the third place with 217kg.

Iran's Olympic gold medallist Sohrab Moradi broke world standards in the men's 96 kilograms snatch, clean and jerk and total events to claim a clean sweep of titles on day seven of the championships.

The 30-year-old won the snatch with 186kg before managing 230kg in the clean and jerk for a total of 416kg.

Ibrahim was delighted by his achievement at the world championships and stressed that he is ready for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

The Qatari champion thanked the Qatar Weightlifting Federation and his coaching team for supporting him in his career.
