Students from different learning stages sparkled in the competitions of Schools Olympic program held at the Qatar Basketball Federation Indoor at Al Gharafa SC on Sunday.
In the basketball event for secondary school (boys), Doha defeated Sumaisma 32-2, while in level two Abi Ayoob Al Ansari and Malek bin Anas schools confidently progressed into the second round. Malek bin Anas thrashed Joaan bin Jassim school 4-2 and Abi Ayoob Al Ansari defeated Al Mothana bin Haretha 8-2.
On the same track of victory, Abi Ayoob Al Ansari outclassed Malek bin Anas model school16-2. In handball competitions for girls primary schools , Khadeeg abin Khoweilad defeated Al Khansaa 5-0, meanwhile Al Khor recorded 7-0 victory over Umm Slal, Zakreet outclassed Al Goyria bint Al Hareth school 6-0.
In the handball competitions for preparatory schools (girls) , Al Daayen defeated Al Kabaan 3-2 and Al Wajba overcome Al Shamal 6-5 and Maria Al Qibtiya defeated Al Khor 15-0.
The SOP is held annually as a collaborative effort of Qatar School Sports Federation (QSSF) and Ministry of Education and Higher Education, with hundreds of student athletes competing from all over Qatar.
The SOP committee aims to spread a culture of sports throughout Qatar's schools and to engage the entire community in active and healthy lifestyles while retaining local values and traditions.
