A Qatari 1-2 was the order of the day in the QREC-sponsored Qatar Coupe de France des Chevaux Arabes. This follows a tight finish in the Qatar Coupe de France des Chevaux Arabes Gr2 PA at Chantilly yesterday.

Meethag, in the colours of Al Shaqab Racing, carried the day after denying Al Hazm by a nose at the line.

The latter raced in the colours of H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Thani.  Salma Nour Grine, the Moroccan raider, was a length further back in third. Abdulla Rashid Al Kubaisi, QREC Racing Manager, was present at the QREC-sponsored event and presented the trophies to the winners.

Meethag was having only her second career start.

After a successful introduction at Toulouse, she confirmed that promise.

Jérôme Cabre, the winning rider, said of the Thomas Fourcy runner: “She showed her business like and professional qualities on her debut and confirmed those impressions today. She is a straight forward ride – with a neat ability to quicken. She is among the best three-year-old fillies in the yard.”

Meethag is a daughter of Dahor de Brugère and Al Nachmiya. The latter was a winner at Gr1 PA level in the colours of H E Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani.

QREC’s sponsorship of the Qatar Coupe de France des Chevaux Arabes is part of QREC’s long-term strategy to have a strong presence and to facilitate the participation of Qatari-owned horses at the Europe and the world’s top racecourses and racing events.
