Doha, Qatar- As part of the National Day celebrations, former athletes, school children, members from different communities and the general public will have the opportunity to carry the Qatari flag across the country's iconic landmarks, transporting it via a wide-range of sporting activities and culminating in a grand finale at Aspire Zone.
This event aims to unite, inspire and share pride with the nation through Team Qatar athletes in celebration of this year's National Day.
Flag Relay 2018 will take place on Thursday, December 13 starting at 5am at Sealine. The event will take place all day, as the flag will be carried around the whole nation before it is raised in Aspire Zone. The flag will pass through several key landmarks such as:
• Asia Town
• Hamad International Airport
• MIA
• Katara
• The Pearl
• Qatar Foundation
Flag Relay 2018 aims to celebrate what it means to be #IamQatar; the campaign that was launched to encourage the nation to come together and support Team Qatar at the Asian Games Jakarta-Palembang 2018. This hashtag also represents Team Qatar's patriotism and engage the community to take ownership.
