As the world awaited the 2018 FIFA World Cup Final, all eyes turned to the handover, as Russian President Vladimir Putin passed the baton to His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, The Emir of Qatar. The short ceremony took place at the Kremlin, with Gianni Infantino, along with multiple members of international media, present for the passing of the ball.
Qatar was awarded the 2022 FIFA World Cup in December 2010, and eight years later, this ceremony marks the final stages of preparation.
