Doha, Qatar - The three-day QNB Qatar International Show Jumping Championship will kick off at QEF’s Outdoor Arena from today.

The two-star event will carry an overall prize bag of €51,000 and a total of 9 competitions across the three-day event co-hosted by Qatar Equestrian Federation (QEF) and Al Shaqab.

Top Qatari entries will be joined by riders from Canada, France, Jordan and Morocco, organisers said yesterday.

This week’s event follows after the hosting of the Al Rayyan International Show Jumping Championship last week.

Last week, Qatari rider Mubarak bin Yousef Al Rumaihi enjoyed a special event when he won five competitions.

The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) yesterday confirmed that a number of family activities have been outlined during the three-day event.

A huge crowd was present for last week’s Al Rayyan International Show Jumping Championship.

To follow last week’s pattern, two of the competitions this week will include a qualifier for the FEI World Cup™ tomorrow and the Grand Prix on Saturday.

The Grand Prix on Saturday will carry a prize bag of €12,000.

Five days ago, Qatari show jumping star Al Rumaihi sealed his supremacy at the 2018 Al Rayyan International Show Jumping Championship when he scooped a double at QEF’s Outdoor Arena.

Al Rumaihi, 34, guided Bolandro to win the 135 cm class in an impressive manner and later grabbed the top prize of €3,360 in the feature class - the Grand Prix astride his reliable gelding Vivaldi K.

Less than 24 hours after winning the feature event of the penultimate day, the Al Rumaihi-Vivaldi K combination outclassed a star-studded line-up of local and international riders in the Grand Prix which also served as one of the qualifying rounds of the Arab League for the 2018 World Cup.
