On the back of a successful European trip, which saw them defeat Switzerland 1-0 and share a 1-1 draw with Iceland; Qatar have jumped three spots to be ranked 93, according to latest FIFA rankings released by the football governing body.
Coached by Felix Sanchez, Al Annabi have accumulated a tally of 1258 points and are currently ranked 13th in Asia.
Iran moved up to 29th place in the rankings and remained Asia’s top team.
The top five Asian teams remained unchanged with Australia as the second best team, moving one spot up to 41st while Japan are third at 50th.
The Republic of South Korea are 53rd in the world, and are the continent’s fourth best ranked team, while Saudi Arabia sit in 69th.
Belgium remain top of the latest FIFA World Rankings, although the gap between them, France (2nd, unchanged) and Brazil (3rd, unchanged) has narrowed over the past month.
Portugal (6th, up 1) were the team to profit from Uruguay’s slide down the table, while the Nations League successes of group winners Sweden and the Netherlands (joint-14th, up 3 and 1 respectively) are reflected in their improved positions.
Further down the table, the big climbers included the African quintet of Mozambique (117th, up 5), Angola (125th, up 5), Sudan (127th, up 8), Comoros (143rd, up 5) and Gambia (166th, up 7). The rise of Kosovo (131st, up 6) was also notable as it took them to their highest position in the rankings to date.
