DOHA: The Qatar Football Association (QFA) has issued a statement in response to slandering comments made by an Egypt’s Zamalek club president Murtada Mansoor.


Referring to the comments made by Mansour, during a television program which was broadcast on June 23, 2019, the QFA said in a statement:


“Mr. Murtada Mansour made public statements of an offensive nature aimed at discrimination and defamation. Also the comments were of a racist nature. These statements were intended to insult the Qatari Football Association, it’s national teams and players as well as to discredit the State of Qatar and its wise leadership.


“The Qatar Football Association believes that in the context of sport, especially football, there is no room for discrimination, defamation or racism. Football must be shared by people and not dispersed.


“The Qatar Football Association rejects any form of discrimination, defamation and racism.


“The Qatar Football Association is aware of its duty and responsibility to combat racism and discrimination and is working with the FIFA, the AFC, and other continental football associations to combat discrimination and racism, which continues to seriously affect football.


“This racism, which is being fought by the Qatar Football Association, has been shown in its most vivid form in the aggressive and disgraceful behavior that Mr. Mansour described in his statements.


“The Qatar Football Association does not tolerate any form of discrimination or racism which is considered to be a behavior that is contrary to the spirit of sport and contrary to universally recognized principles and values.


“Finally, the Qatar Football Association does not accept any attack or attack on national teams or players, and the Qatar Football Association has already taken legal action before the competent judicial bodies to protect its rights. In addition, Qatari players have expressed their desire to go to court on this issue.”
