QOC PRESIDENT ATTENDS FIE CONGRESS IN PARIS

Paris, France- Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) President H.E. Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani joined officials from all around the world to attend the International Fencing Federation (FIE) annual Congress, which was held in Paris recently.

The FIE accomplished multiple decisions and procedures as part of its official charter, according to FIE.org. The FIE also celebrated its 105th anniversary during the Congress, which had 135 federations present or represented.

H E Sheikh Joaan met with several officials to discuss promotion of the sport.

FIE President Alisher Usmanov said: “We have many achievements to be proud of. We have ensured that all 12 fencing disciplines will be part of the Olympic program.”

“I consider it to be one of the most important points in the history of fencing. The organisation of our major tournaments has significantly improved. We are in constant search of new ways of promoting our sport and have made great progress in this respect: testing and introducing state-of-the-art technology; improving the quality and increasing the number of television broadcasts of our competitions, and millions of people all over the world can now watch fencing,” the FIE president added.
