Doha, Qatar- QNB Stars League club Al Arabi on Monday announced the arrival of their new coach Heimir Hallgrimsson.

Hallgrimsson, who was Iceland coach at the World Cup, attended a press conference to this effect today.

It will be the first coaching assignment for the 51-year-old, who left the national team after its group-stage elimination in Russia.

Hallgrimsson had assisted Lars Lagerback as the co-coach of the team during the 2016 European Championship. During the Championship Iceland had reached the quarterfinals. 

Later, guided the team alone as it became the smallest country to ever qualify for the World Cup.

Al-Arabi, who won the Qatari league title in 1997, have been also been managed by Chelsea players Gianfranco Zola and Dan Petrescu.
