QATAR BEACH VOLLEYBALL TEAM LOSE TO CANADA IN ESPINHO TOURNAMENT

The Qatari beach volleyball team (1) including Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan suffered a 1-2 defeat at the hands of Canada's Padlaw/Schachter in the second round of the four-star Espinho stop on the 2019 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour on Saturday.

The Qatari duo qualified to the second round after taking the second place in their group in the first round. Younousse and Tijan defeated Italy's Abbiati/Andreatta 2-0 (21-16 21-14) in their first match then they went down fighting against of Spain's Herrera/Gavira in the second match on Friday.

The tournament brings together 50 teams representing 26 countries.

It's worth mentioning that the Qatari duo of Cherif Younousse and Ahmad Tijan claimed the fourth place in the FIVB world ranking issued recently.

The Qatari team collected 5120 points after participating in a huge of number international and continental tournaments.

Christian Sorum and Anders Mol of Norway led the way with 7600 points ahead of Russia's Krasilnikov/Stoyanovskiy in the second place and Poland's Bryl/Fijalek in the third place.
