HAYZUM TAKES THE PRIX DE LA VILLE DE TEICH

QREC

Hamad bin Abdulrahman Al-Attiyah-owned HAYZUM won Prix de la Ville de Teich at La Teste de Buch on Wednesday, 7 August 2019. He was one of four newcomers lining up in the mile-long race reserved for two-year-old maidens. The Elias Mikhalides-trained colt was caught for speed in the early stages, but then had to slalom through horses to find an opening in the straight. That did not hamper him, however, from putting a clear two-length margin between him and the runner-up, the A. Chopard/red And White Racing-owned Dutch Chop, trained by J. Soubagne and ridden by Mickaël Barzalona, who had the advantage of experience, having already run twice. The Al Shaqab Racing-owned and S. Brogi-trained BOSIOH, who also a debutant, was further three quarters of a length behind under J. Plateaux.

“He has run a nice debut”, said winning jockey Aurélien Lemaitre commenting on HAYZUM’s performance and win, “He was a little lethargic, but every time I asked him he found more. When we reached the 2-furlong marker, he picked up well. He has plenty of gear and seems to have stamina.”
