ANNUAL AL MAZAB CAMP COMMENCES

Doha, Qatar - The annual Al Mazab camp organised by the Qatar Society for Al Gannas began at Sabkhat in the Sealine Area. 

With roughly 20 + young participants ranging from the ages of 10 - 14 years old are taking part to learn the values of Qatari heritage With the guidance of instructors at the camp site, applicants will gain knowledge on traditions such as etiquette of the majlis, learning how to saddle up and ride camels as well as learning about the Islamic religion. Learning skill sets that could be passed down to generations.

Saeed Rashid Al Naiami said that “On the first day of the Al Mazab camp, we are giving and introduction to the parents as well as the kids to give them an insight at what we do here. For the first day we want the kids to settle down and meet everyone at camp, and tomorrow will be the first official day of our program, which will begin the falconry.”

He continued “the following day on the agenda the kids will learn about camel riding, how to saddle up a camel and all the necessary equipment, as well as they will be able to ride a camel. The third and final activity will be learning the proper manners of the Majlis and how to be hospitable accordingly.”

Issa mubarak al Mansouri, father of one of the students said “the Qatar society for Al Gannas aims to provide our children with the ability to learn about falconry, riding horses, the importance of Islam and reciting the Quran as well as the interacting with others through activities by the camp” 

The camp will have run a number of activities and will conclude on Wednesday.
