A delegation from Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC), led by Secretary General Gunilla Lindberg, conducted a successful site visit for the upcoming ANOC World Beach Games Qatar 2019 in Doha this week.

The visit coincided with the official team sports draw at the QOC office for the Beach Handball and Beach Soccer competitions. During the visit, ANOC met with the Qatar 2019 Organising Committee, led by its Vice President and QOC Secretary General Jassim Rashid Al Buenain. Updates were provided across all Games functional areas including transport, marketing accommodation, sports presentation, security, and media and broadcast.

The ANOC World Beach Games will open on 12 October and will welcome more than 1,200 athletes across 14 disciplines and 13 dynamic beach, water and action sports. There are 14 sports on the programme in all and the athletes from around 90 countries, with action split between the Katara and Al Gharafa beach venues in Doha.

Meanwhile Qatar’s athletes have begun preparations for the event and are keen for sporting success on home soil.

Qatar will compete in eight sports at the World Beach Games – 3x3 basketball, beach volleyball, beach handball, karate kata, beach tennis, beach wrestling, open water swimming and aquathlon.

“Qatar’s delegation will be participating in eight sports events during the competition,” Naji Al Amri, Qatar’s Chef De Mission said while talking to insidethegames.biz website.

“This poses a challenge for our athletes and that is why the federations, in cooperation with the QOC represented by the sports affairs department, have developed a detailed training programme to adequately prepare Team Qatar for this inaugural edition of the competition,” Al Amri said.

“We believe that the team will give their best and bring great glory and honour to the country,” he said.

“Team Qatar has begun intensive preparations ahead of the inaugural edition of the ANOC World Beach Games Qatar 2019,” the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) said.
