WASMYA FIRST WIN AT STADT BADEN BADEN CUP

QREC

WASMYA, bred and owned by Al Shaqab Racing, scored her first listed race when she won the Stadt Baden Baden Cup at Baden Baden, Germany, on Sunday 1 September 2019. The three-year-old chestnut filly, trained by Francis-Henri Graffard, is still unexposed as her call out at Baden Baden was just her fourth career start. She was coming off two easy wins, both at Maisons-Laffitte, France. In the hands of Jean-Bernard Eyquem, the daughter of TORONADO made up ground along the rail in the final turn before putting the rest of the field to bed. She won the 1400m listed race for three-year-old and older fillies and mares by three and a half lengths. The John Pearce Racing Ltd-owned and Sir Mark Prescott Bt-trained MISS CELESTIAL was the runner-up and was ridden by Luke Morris. The Henri-Alex Pantall-trained and William Buick-ridden WISHFULLY was a further half length behind in third.
WASMYA holds entries in the Gr3 Qatar Prix du Pin on the Qatar Arc Trials Day at ParisLonchamp on 15 September and the Gr 1 Qatar Prix de la Forêt on the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphme Day at ParisLonchamp on 6 October.
