AHLI AND SHAMAL SCORE EASY WINS

Al Ahli and Al Shamal scored comfortable victories in the Qatar Men’s League at the Al Gharafa Sports Club yesterday. 

While Al Ahli rode 25-point efforts by Earnest Lee Ross and Julius Coles against Al Khor, Al Shamal powered past Al Arabi with Mohamed Harat scoring a match-high 30 points and George Tsinsadze and Mikheil Berishivli making substantial contributions of 19 and 18, respectively.

Al Ahli and Al Khor were neck and neck in the first quarter but Al Ahli started to pull clear in the next 10 minutes to secure a 38-31 advantage going into the third quarter.

By the end of the third quarter they had a match-winning 59-47 cushion and, when they scored a whopping 30 points in the final period it was all over for Al Khor. 

Of his 25 points, Ross scored 18 in three-pointers and apart from Coles got valuable support from Seydu Ndoye who chipped in with 20.

For Al Khor, Ameer Jackson and Dominique Lacy excelled with 21 points.

Meanwhile, Harat’s 30 points for Al Shamal came with the help of 11 field goals, including a trio of three-pointers.

Al Shamal led 31-16 after the first quarter and 50-40 at the end of the second. Al Arabi, however, lost the fight when they could only manage 10 points in the third period.

Oumar Seck with 22 and Talla Gueye with 14 excelled for Al Arabi Al Shamal scored 20 points from turnovers while Al Arabi only had 12 in that department. Shamal also scored 20 second chance points against Al Arabi’s 16.
