A press conference was held today at the Sheraton hotel where IAAF representatives Rune Andersen Head of IAAF Task Force, Sebastian Coe IAAF Chief, and Jackie Brock-Doyle IAAF Communications Director spoke about issues concerning the IAAF.
Russia will be missing the world athletics championships for the second time in a row after the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) revealed on Monday that historical data supplied by the countries anti-doping authority contained “inconsistencies”, also putting Russia’s participation at the Tokyo Olympics under threat.
"The council endorsed the strongest recommendation we've probably had from the task force that Russia remains suspended," International Association of Athletics Federations president Sebastian Coe said.
Sebastian Coe also commented on the case of Semenya saying it was necessary and proportionate under the regulations of cas.
The 17th IAAF World Championships will take place on the 27th of September to the 6th of October 2019. Over 10 days 24 different events will be held for male and female athletes, including the first midnight marathon to be held under the leadership of the IAAF.
