IAAF WORLD ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIPS COMMENCE TODAY

In his first 400m hurdles race since the Shanghai Daimond Leaue injury, the Qatari Abderrahman Samba hot in heats round at the 400m hurdles, with a time of 49.08s. The Qatari surpassed the Japanese, Takatoshi Abe and Norwegian, Karsten Warholm and came out on top.  The young Qatari runner Owaab Barrow finishes the men's 100m sprint in 3rd place with a time of 10.64s in the preliminaries and qualifies for the next stage.

The day ends and the night calls the opening ceremony where HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani inaugurates the opening ceremony of the IAAF World Athletics Championships Doha 2019.

HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, Chairman of the Local Organising Committee of the IAAF World Championships Doha 2019 had a speech prepared where he thanked everyone who was involved saying, " This championship is only possible because of the commitment and efforts of thousands of people... and every contribution has been significant to making a real difference."

Sebastian Coe, President of the IAAF: "We are world athletics and we have the worlds best athletes right here in Qatar."
