Qatar Basketball Federation, alongside Qatar Foundation, held a press conference this morning ahead of the launching of the Qatar Universities Basketball Cup 2019.
The various speakers at the press conference spoke on the format of the competition, as well as the importance of sports within university campuses to promote an active and healthy lifestyle, "Sport in universities is incredibly important, globally around the world, and we want to make sure that the level of competition we have here in Qatar is of the highest level, as well," stated Amy Johnson, Community Engagement and Operations Project Director at Qatar Foundation.
The tournament is due to start on the 6th of October, with both a men's and women's tournament occurring alongside one another. Seven teams will play one another in the group stages, before the top four go through to a play-off round ahead of the finals.
The competition will take place at Multaqa Student Center, Qatar Foundation.
