FIFA CLUB WORLD CUP TO TAKE PLACE AT EDUCATION CITY STADIUM

Caitlin Dillon

FIFA have announced that three rounds of Club World Cup matches will take place at the brand-new Education City Stadium, set to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The 40,000 capacity stadium will be home to one semi-final match, as well as the third-place play-off and the final.

The remainder of the matches will take place at Khalifa International Stadium, another 2022 World Cup venue, as well as Jassim bin Hamad Stadium - meaning that Al Sadd's fixtures could take place on home turf.

With all three venues within 13 kilometres of one another, or from Doha Corniche, fans visiting the country for the tournament at the end of the year will get a taste of what is to come in just over three year's time.
