HAIDAN, AL GHAZALI SHINE ON DAY ONE AS ROUND 5 BEGINS

Qatari rider Hussain Saeed Haidan emerged victorious  astride Belucci Van ‘T Vleminkhof to bag the top prize as the fifth round of the popular Hathab Tour kicked off yesterday.

At the Qatar Equestrian Federation’s  (QEF) Outdoor Arena, Haidan guided the 12-year-old mare to complete  the Medium Tour round with no errors in 46.33 secs to grab 65 points. 

Yesterday’s win made him richer by QR5,000 and also earned him the top spot in the Medium Tour’s overall points tally.

Viking D, with Khalid Hamad Al Attiya in the saddle, finished a fraction of a second slower than the winner (46.48) to secure the second spot on the podium which offered QR4,000 in prize money.

Daydreamer EC, guided by promising Qatari rider  Saeed Nasser Al Qadi, completed the round in 47.30 secs to seal the remaining podium spot and won a prize cheque worth QR3,000.

Khalid Mohammed Al Emadi and FiJi finished fourth with a time of 49.36 while Vivaldi K, with Mubarak Yousuf Al Rumaihi in the saddle, rounded up the top five in the QR20,000 event.

In the Medium Tour’s  team event, which was run simultaneously, Team Power Steel sealed the top spot with 130 points and a time of 101.47 secs.

Al Emadi (Fiji), Mohammad Hazim Abara (Ambre De Beaufour) and Abdulrahman Adel Nassar (Dubaii) contributed for the team’s win as they bagged QR10,000 in prize money.

Team Porsche (Belucci Van ‘T Vleminkhof/Hussain Saeed Haidan, Gerlin Vd Waterkant/Cyrine Cherif and Eddie/Sheikha Fatima Jabor Al Thani) finished second after clocking a total time of 102.3 secs. 

Team Al Salam International won the third place in the team event after Al Rumaihi (Vivaldi K) and Mohammed Al Ghazali (Alegro) clocked a cumulative time of 110.33 secs.

Earlier, in the Small Tour, young Qatari rider Mohammed Al Ghazali sealed a convincing win on Michael Jackson. 

The 11-year-old bay Gelding clocked a time of 29.85 secs in the jump off and made no errors as Al Ghazali won QR2,500. Ziezo, with Mohammed Saeed Haidan in the saddle, completed the same task in 30.56 to win the second place. News Boy and Faris Saad Al Qahtani, with a time of 30.78, finished third.

The fifth round of the event concludes today.
