Hosts Qatar began their campaign in the Association of
National Olympic Committees (ANOC) World Beach Games with the men’s handball preliminary
round at Al-Gharafa today.
In today’s action, the hosts defeated Croatia 2-1 in the handball the preliminary round and will face Hungary at 20:30 in Al-Gharafa venue.
Qatar is placed in Group B along with Spain, Hungary,
Croatia and Tunisia.
Group A consists of European giants Sweden and Denmark, and
also includes the USA, Australia, and Brazil.
Qatar will compete in seven sports from today till October
16 – 3x3 basketball, beach volleyball, beach handball, karate kata, beach
wrestling, open water swimming and aquathlon.
Athletes from 97 countries are taking part in the Games,
which are held in four different locations Al-Gharafa, Katara, Aspire Zone and
the Ritz Carolton Canal
