The press conference for the WorldSBK Championship’s 13th
and final round was held this morning at the W Hotel in Doha. In attendance was
rider Alvaro Bautista, former 125cc World Champion and seasoned Moto GP racer.
Bautista expressed his feelings ahead of the final round of his debut WorldSBK
season here in Qatar, stressing the confidence he has racing here, despite this
being his first WorldSBK Championship, he has visited the Losail International
Circuit many times before with MotoGP.
The Spaniard has had an exhilarating debut season, going
back and forth in a very notable rivalry with reigning World Champion Jonathan
Rea, who is seen by most as the greatest and most successful rider in the
history of WorldSBK.
Bautista spoke on said rivalry, expressing the respect he
has for Rea, and the enjoyment he has competing against such an experienced
rider: ‘’In the end I’m very happy with the season so far, and I hope to beat
him in the future.’’
The first race of the round will begin on Thursday, and will
last through the weekend at the Losail International Circuit.
