HE President of Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani honored Team Qatar Athletes who claimed 34 medals (9 gold medals, 14 silver medals, and 11 bronze medals) at GCC Women's Games.
HE QOC First Vice President Sheikh Saud bin Ali Al-Thani, HE QOC Second Vice President Dr. Thani Abdulrahman Al Kuwari, and HE QOC Secretary General Jassim Rashid Al Buenain , President of Qatar Women's Sports Committee (QWSC) Lolwa Al Marri, Directors of Departments and staff of QOC attended the honoring ceremony.
HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani congratulated the Qatari athletes on the achievements, adding that the results achieved confirm that the Qatari girl deserves to represent the Qatari sport in various international forums. HE QOC President added that these achievements also reflect the evolution of women's sports thanks to the support of the wise leadership and the efforts of QWSC and sports federations.
HE QOC President affirmed QOC support to women's sport as part of its plan to support all sectors and categories.
HE Sheikh Joaan thanked the members of the administrative and technical bodies and all the players for the great effort to raise the name of Qatar high in the GCC tournament.
HE QOC President urged the athletes to redouble efforts in the coming phase to further improve the level of Qatari women's sport and achieve more achievements in the forthcoming entitlements, most notably the Olympic Games-Tokyo 2020.
