Qatar's Female Athletes honored by HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani

His Excellency Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani honored Qatar's athletes upon their arrival in Doha after participating in the 6th GCC Women's Games held in Kuwait. Qatar's competitors brought home an unprecedented thirty-four medals, with nine gold, fourteen silver, and eleven bronze. 

Hana Al Badr from the national handball team communicates her feelings after receiving the honor: “This is the third time we win gold in the Womens GCC Games. We won it in 2015, 2017, and 2019. We are very proud and very pleased with how we performed in the championship, and are extremely honored that we get awarded by HE Sheikh Joaan. We will continue training and if we have something coming up it will be the West Asian Championship.“

Qatari Track & Field athlete Mariam Farid also commented on receiving the honors: “This is just the beginning, were looking forward to compete in the Asian competitions, internationally, not just gulf games.  This is just the beginning; It's a small step to become future worldwide athletes and to be future champions of Qatar.“ 

The President of the Qatar Womens Sports Committee Lolwa Al-Marri expressed her pride for Qatar's achievement: “We are really honored and proud of the achievement of our girls. Sheikh Joaan gave them a push and really inspired them to do more in the future. We are really happy and proud and are looking forward to the future with more achievements“
