4th Association of Sports Institutes in Asia Congress at Aspire Academy

The 4th Association of Sports Institutes in Asia Congress kicked off this morning at the Aspire Academy, the conference brings together representatives of sports performance institutes on the continent and continues for three days.

The 4th edition was prepared by Aspire in coordination with the founding members of the event, most notably the Japanese Sports Council, Hong Kong Sports Institute and Singapore Sports Institute.

The conference will discuss topics such as the transition of athletes from youth to professional, the development of high-performance environments, the application of sports technology, as well as research & innovation in performance programs.

Aspire Academy Deputy Director-General and Chairman of the 4th ASIA Congress, Ali Salem Afifa welcomed guests. He said “As Asia continues to make history in the sporting arena, it is time that we encourage discussions and sharing around the development of a high-performance environment for aspiring athletes and the program of this congress should stimulate new ideas,” 

The Association of Sports Institutes in Asia (ASIA) founded in 2015, is a non-profit non-government organization, which was built with a vision to combine high-performance sports institutes in Asia, the Association envisions a vibrant and active community collaborating towards strong sporting performance in Asia, basing it on ethical practices, openness, and respect.



The congress will see prominent speakers from the US, United Kingdom, Ireland, New Zealand and Australia, key speakers from the host Aspire Academy.


The panel will have discussions from former Aspire Academy student, Abdulla Al Tamimi, Squash player, and World No. 46, and Abubaker Haydar, track-and-field athlete and 2019 Asian Games 800m champion, on the topic of “Transitioning athletes from Youth to Senior”. Also on the panel, Felix Sanchez, Qatar Football National Coach and Geoff Hunt former World No. 1 squash player and coach.
