Yemen Arrive First Ahead of Gulf Cup

Ahmed Eltigani

The Yemen national football team has arrived in Hamad International Airport this morning, as they prepare to participate in the 24th Arabian Gulf Cup. Yemen are the first team to arrive, with Iraq scheduled to arrive at 1PM Doha time.

Yemen hosted the Gulf Cup for their first time in 2010, when they celebrated the 40th anniversary of the cup and played their opening match against Saudi Arabia. Yemen are hopeful here in Doha of their first Gulf Cup win, as they, along with Bahrain, have not yet won the championship.

Yemen are in Group A alongside Qatar, Iraq, and the UAE, and will play their first fixture against the UAE on Tuesday the 26th of November at 9:30PM Doha Time at the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium. Yemen will move on to face off against Qatar in their second fixture on the 29th at 9:00PM at the same stadium.
