Under the patronage of HE Sheikh Joaan Bin Hamad Al Thani, Chairman of the Qatar Olympic Committee, the Sports Excellence Day will be held on Wednesday evening at Msheireb, having previously been postponed due to weather conditions.
The annual Olympic Committee ceremony honours local sports figures and recognises all who have contributed to the growth and development of the Olympic movement in Qatar.
Amongst those expected to be recognised are the Qatar national football team for their outstanding historic achievement in the AFC Asian Cup. Mutaz Barshim will also be honoured for his gold medal in the high jump at the IAAF World Athletics Championships in Qatar in 2019.
The ceremony is set to begin at 7pm in Msheireb.
