The Qatar Quest Ultra Triathlon begins Thursday

Saad Al-Suwaidi

The Qatar Quest is a 434 km reverse Ultraman around Qatar (the first and only time) through a combination of running, cycling and swimming over 3 days.

More importantly, it is an ultra-endurance experience, one that will impact not only the athletes but the communities that the Quest will touch. Part adventure and exploration, part camaraderie and new friendships, part community service and soul rehabilitation, the Qatar Quest looks to inspire ultra-endurance athletes from around the world to curate their own adventure for their community and a cause that will raise the spirit of others.

The Qatar Quest has no finish line, it is not a race, but there will be plenty of winners and the outcome will be shared by many, not just by those completing this unique endurance adventure. It is in this spirit, with these intentions, we invite you to join us in November of 2019, for this once in a lifetime experience.

The Qatar Quest, will not only take the Athletes on a physically and emotionally challenging journey but it will be a once in a lifetime opportunity for the Children/ Students of the Al Shafallah Centre to partake firsthand in such an event alongside the Athletes as well as benefit from the emotion that the motion generates in one’s mind and body.

We aim to show raise public awareness and increase acceptance of persons with disabilities. We are all God’s creation and the Prophet shows us that persons with disabilities are to be treated equally. A disability is not a hindrance to a person’s ability to carry out his duties.

Stage 1 of the triathlon will begin on Thursday with a 90km run beginning from the center of Qatar to South of Qatar near Sealine beach area. Check Points will be available every 10km providing water, as well as a overnight Desert Camp will be in place where activities such as raising awareness around Disability, Games, cultural events, and recovery for athletes will take place.

On Friday, stage 2 of the triathlon will be cycling 235km from the camp 1 to camp 2 located in the north of Qatar (Zekreet and Al Zubarah Fort). Check points will be available every 30km providing water, as well as roadside assistance and ambulances will be on stand-by.

The third and final stage will take place on Saturday beginning with 100km cycle from camp 2 to Katara Cultural Village, and ending it with a 9km swim at Katara.

Spectators are welcomed to cheer on local athletes as they try and tackle the 434 km reverse Ultraman, as the finish line ad celebrations will take place at Katara on Saturday afternoon.
