Vodaphone Qatar Telecom Sponsor of the 24th Arabian Gulf Cup

Vodafone Qatar has been confirmed as the Official Telecommunications Sponsor of the 24th Arabian Gulf Cup. As part of the sponsorship, the company will provide state-of-the-art telecommunications infrastructure including its GigaNet network at the tournament stadiums – Khalifa International Stadium and Abdulla Bin Khalifa Stadium.

Organised by the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation (AGCFF) and the Qatar Football Association (QFA), the tournament will be held from November 26 to December 8, with eight nations participating – Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and the host country Qatar. Thousands of football fans from Qatar, the region and the world are expected to attend the anticipated event and show their support for their national teams.

Commenting on the sponsorship Nasser al-Khater, CEO of the Local Organising Committee, said: “We are delighted to welcome Vodafone Qatar as our official Telecommunications Sponsor for an event that is close to the heart of the region’s many football fans. We are confident that Vodafone’s network and infrastructure will greatly enhance communications around the Gulf Cup tournament and contribute to delivering a fabulous spectacle.”

Vodafone Qatar is 94 percent Qatari-owned and since the buyout the company has begun to implement a full strategy to pioneer the telecommunications technology that will accelerate digital era connectivity for Qatar and the region, including leading the rapid uprise of 5G technology.

Around 35,000 tickets have already been sold. Tickets range from 10 QR to 50 QR and are available online at, gulfcup2019.qa or through the sales centres in Souq Waqif, Villaggio, Qatar Mall, Festival and Katara. 

Fans will be able to use the Gold line for transportation to the Stadiums. The Gold line preview service covers 11 stations, including Ras Bu Abboud, National Museum, Souq Waqif, Bin Mahmoud, Al Sadd, Joaan, Al Sudan, Al Waab, Sport City, Al Aziziyah and interchange station Msheireb. The Gold Line's operating hours are from 6 am to 11 pm Saturday to Thursday and from 02:00 pm- 11:00 pm on Fridays, with trains operating every 5 minutes.
