images illustrating sports events in Qatar are on display at the “Sports
Moments” exhibition which opened at Katara Cultural Village on Sunday.
The gallery was opened by Ahmed Al Sayyed, Deputy General Manager of
Katara and Abdulaziz Al Kubaisi, Photography Department Manager at the Youth
Hobbies Centre and attended by amateur photographers and photography
enthusiasts.
Speaking at the launch event, Al Sayyed said that Katara’s goal is to
provide an appropriate environment for young creative people to promote their
professions, and this photo exhibition is one of Katara’s many opportunities
founded for that cause.
Al Kubaisi said that the Youth Hobbies Centre has more than 2000
registered members who are photographers, and this exhibition is open for two
expatriate photographers which assures the goal of the centre to support the
youth in Qatar no matter where they are from.
The photos taken by photographers Yousef Al Walidi and Mohammed Ali are
on display at Youth Hobbies Centre in building 18.
Ali describes his participation in the photo gallery as a great beginning
to his career as it is the first time for him to take part in a photo
exhibition.
“The fabulous sport events that were held in Qatar provided a precious
material for me as a photographer, this will have a positive impact on my
career”, Ali said.
“This exhibition shows that Qatar has the capability to host international
sporting events after the many successful world tournaments that occurred over
the past years” Al Walidi said.
