Xavi Happy with Al Sadd Opening Match

Xavi Hernandez, Al Sadd's coach, expresses his contentment with his teams exhilarating 3-1 victory over Hienghene Sport in the opening match of the FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019. Al Sadd breezed past their opponent to secure their place in the second round, where they will face Mexican side CF Monterrey.

In a post-match press conference, Xavi put his thoughts on the encounter into words: "We wasted a number of easy chances; we were not able to score. In extra time, we managed to score and we got lucky that we did not go to penalties. I am happy to progress to the next round of the tournament."

The Barcelona legend also added his thoughts on the upcoming fixture against Monterrey: "I know Monterrey, they have played very well after the change of coach. They are a quick side with many players in attack and are also good from set-pieces. They are a very good side. If we play like we did today, things will be tough for us but if it's our day, we can perform well."

Xavi's Al Sadd will face Monterrey on Saturday the 14th at 20:30 Doha time at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium.
