Preparations are under way to hold Doha Triathlon 2019 on February 8.

The third edition of Doha Triathlon is an opportunity for beginners who want to experience this sport by organising the Super Sprint along with the Olympic and Sprint distance races which need more experience and bring together competing athletes to the titles of the Qatar National Championship.

The Super Sprint includes a 375-meter swim and a 10-kilometer bike ride and concludes with 2.5 km running race.

This race will provide an opportunity for beginners to participate alongside professional and international champions and amateur and local athletes in safe Gulf water and cycling on the Doha Corniche as well as enjoy running in the Museum of Islamic Art park.

The Doha Triathlon is the third of five triathlon events which count towards the Qatar National Triathlon Series in the season 2018-19, followed by Lusail Triathlon and The Pearl Triathlon. Previous events were previously held at Katara in November and Al Ghariya in December.

The National Series count on very competitive participants such as Bernad McCullagh and Ethan Bennett who won last year Doha Triathlon mens over all Sprint distance with very tight results of 1:6.14 and 1:6.55, respectively and Carla Pegigueiro leading the female Sprint distance with 1:15.49.

Triathlon Director at Qatar Triathlon Federation Dr. Nasser Al Mohannadi expressed pleasure for organizing Doha Triathlon for the third year in a row, saying: “We are very happy to celebrate the third event in Qatar National Triathlon Series in lovely location for triathlon in Museum of Islamic Art”.

“I would like to thank Qatar Museums for support and hosting the event, along with all the other sponsors and partners, who contributed making the event a success for all. Triathlon is the fastest growing sport in the world and locally,” Al Mohannadi added.
