Coach Felix Sanchez attended a press conference held on Wednesday in Thailand ahead of the opening match of the AFC U23 Asian Cup tournament. Qatar is to take on Syria this evening, at 13:15 Doha time, Sanchez says his team is ‘well prepared’ for the match.
Qatar is one of the sides competing to win a ticket to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. Qatar arrived in Bangkok at the end of December after playing a couple friendlies in Doha.
‘We aspire to win our first match against Syria, our group is the hardest in the championship and victory against Syria will put us on the right path,” - Coach Sanchez.
“We have prepared well for this tournament and we hope to maintain our good record in this tournament after we reached the last four in the past two editions, this Syrian team is a respectable team characterized by high effort and strong physical strength. We are aware of the challenges ahead,” Sanchez added, He Sanchez at the press conference attended by Group B coaches.
Qatar will be facing Saudi Arabia on the 12th of January, followed by Tokyo 2020 Olympics Games host Japan on the 15th of January 15. The qualifying tournament is set to end on the 26th of January.
