Doha, Qatar- Qatar Sports Club are close to signing Argentinian Sergio Batista as the manager. He would replace Abdullah Mubarak.
The former Argentinian football manager, who enjoyed a good stint as the coach of Bahrain in 2015-16, is expected to arrive in the next few hours to complete the contract and the follow-up proceedings.
According to reports from the Club, the former Argentinian playmaker would be unveiled at a press conference ahead of their seventh round QNB Stars League game, on Thursday.
The announcement has come as a shot in the arm for the club, which is gearing up for their tie against league leaders Al-Sadd.
Qatar Sports Club had appointed Youssef Nubi to coach the team temporarily after the dismissal of Mubarak last week.
Batista is one of the most decorated footballer-turned-manager in South American football. He was part of the Argentine team that won the FIFA World Cup in 1986 and has coached stars like Lionel Messi.
