The Qatari player, Thawab Al Subaie, finished in fifth place in the 3x3 ice hockey competition of the 2020 Winter Youth Olympics in Lausanne, Switzerland.
The competitions witnessed the participation of 1,800 athletes representing 76 National Olympic Committees.
This participation was Qatar's first participation in the Winter Olympics. Al Subaie came close to qualifying for the next round but only the first four spots advance to the next round.
Al Subaie joined a team of different nationalities and participated with his team in several matches where his team finished in fifth place. The 2020 Winter Youth Olympics continues until January 22.
