WEGA Global Games Opening Cermony

The Khalifa International Stadium hosted the Grand Opening Ceremony of the Qatar Esports WEGA Global Games on Thursday night, launching a long term sponsorship signed last March between The Aspire Zone Foundation and Truxtun Capital. The WEGA Global Games honored fans and players with invitations to the Grand Ceremony to celebrate esports and live the passion of gaming.

The opening ceremony commenced at 8 PM Doha time and compiled a schedule of performances based on gaming categories while immersing the Khalifa Stadium’s audience in a range of mesmerizing visuals on the big screen. 2017 Britain’s Got Talent winner and multi-instrument producer Tokio Myers made an appearance on stage and presented the audience with a beautiful 25-minute concert.

The agreement between Aspire Zone and Truxtun offers millions of gamers across the globe a chance to compete in the global tournament, with this first edition including games like CSGO, DOTA, and Streetfighter among others.

The opening ceremony will be followed by a WEGA Champions tournament in March 2020, and a world-wide online competition starting in September, with the Global Games Great Final taking place in December. The WEGA Champions tournament in March will be open to Middle-East players to compete and celebrate esports, in the state of the art facilities of Aspire Zone.
