Doha all set to host 2020 Qatar Fencing Grand Prix

 Doha is set to host the expanded and bigger 2020 Qatar Fencing Grand Prix as the fruitful relationship and partnership with Qatar Fencing Federation burgeons further as a record number of top world fencers descend on Qatar for competition, which will run over three days, 24- 26 January 2020, in Aspire Dome.


Doha Fencing Grand Prix is a mega event on the sporting calendar in the country and it draws lovers of this sport in great numbers. Aspire is proud to host this big event and partake in what is international sporting competition serving as a qualifier for 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.


Doha is the first of three Grand Prix of the series before Budapest (Hungary) and Cali (Colombia) and it is widely considered to be one of the top three tournaments in the world.  This year will see the highest number of fencers ever with a total of 350 male and female fencers coming to compete at Aspire and looking to get points that help towards qualification for Tokyo Olympic Games.


Young Qatari fencers will get the opportunity to compete with the very best in the world. The Qatari fencers, most of whom are graduate and student Athletes of Aspire Academy, are not yet at the stage of competing for honors at this level, but the experience gained is invaluable.


The 2020 Doha Fencing Grand Prix event will witness participation from more than 350 athletes who will be representing approximately 150 countries. The Aspire Dome is located at the Aspire Zone which falls under the Metro Gold Line: Sport City network.


Fencing Grand Prix 2020 Doha Schedule


Day 1: 24 January (Friday) – Full Day Female and Male Qualification with Free Access.

Day 2:  25 January (Saturday) – Full Day Male and Female Qualification with Free Access

Day 3: 26 January (Sunday) – 6 PM onwards- Men & Women Finals
