Longines Hathab Round 7: Al Qadi, Al Ghazali shine on opening day

Doha: Popular Qatari riders Hamad Nasser Al Qadi (Gibria-B) and Mohammed Al Ghazali (Alegro 84) yesterday clinched victories after scintillating displays of top class equestrian action as the seventh round of Longines Hathab.


At the Longines Arena at Al Shaqab, Al Qadi topped an impressive field of 49 entries with a flawless routine to win the Medium Tour event in 32.82 secs as he walked away with a prize of QR5,000. Al Qadi’s nine-year-old mare was much faster than Kamil Sabitov’s Carmen who finished in the second spot. Kyrgyz showjumper Sabitov who won the fifth round of the popular tour earlier in January, clocked a time of 35.05 secs as he got richer by QR4,000.


Awad Alqahtani, astride Bellini D'argonne, completed the podium after a ride that lasted 35.42 secs. He bagged QR3,000 as prize money.


In the Medium Tour team event, Team ExxonMobil which consisted of Saeed Nasser Al Qadi (Best Of Des Forets), Khalid Mohammed Al Emadi (Fiji) and Jaber Rashid Al Amri (Canavaro De Muze - E.T.), clinched the top prize of QR10,000 ahead of second placed team Al Kass and The Top who finished third.


Team ExxonMobil  clocked a time of 74.07 secs as Al Kass spent 74.09 secs to complete the same task.


Al Ghazali’s win in the QR10,000 Small Tour came in 54.98 secs. He won QR2,500 for his victory.


Abdulaziz Ghanim Al Nuaimi came second on Birddyz who completed the same task in 57.03 secs.


Uzbekistan’s Abdushukur Sobirjonov guided Kapitel to finish the routine in 57.94 secs and booked the remaining spot on the podium. 


As all three podium finishers managed to complete their respective rounds with no faults.
