President of Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani, and His Excellency Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir's personal representative, awarded the winners of the 11th Marmi International Falcons and Hunting Festival (Marmi 2020), which concluded at Sabkhat Marmi, in the Sealine area.
Organised by the al Gannas Association, the month-long festival saw a number of VIPS, excellencies ministers and a large number of the public attend the cultural sporting event, as well as Falconers and hinting enthusiasts from around the region.
An award ceremony held for the competitors, in competitions which include Falconry and Saluki racing. The grand award of the night witnessed Abdullah Fakhro take home a brand new Lexus, after winning the finals in falconry on Friday, On Saturday, HE sheikh Jassim and Sheikh Joaan awarded Sabah Al Nuaimi 1st place in the Al Mazain Falcon Championship, the falcon beauty competition.
The event is aimed at preserving and promoting the sport of falconry, which is held in high regard in Arab culture, shedding light on Qatari culture and hospitality through various shows and competitions.
