NSD: Copa Qatar-Mexico final to be played on February 9

The final of the second annual Copa Qatar-Mexico will take place at the Magdalena Mixhuca Sports City in Mexico City on February 9 in conjunction with the National Sport Day (NSD).


The Embassy of Qatar in Mexico is hosting the popular event under the patronage of the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy.


The tournament that kicked off on January 25 sees 36 teams in action under three categories, namely men, women and kids.


During a press conference in Mexico City, the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Mexico, H E Mohammed bin Jassim Al Kuwari highlighted Qatar’s presence as global sports capital, considered one of the unique countries that celebrates a sport day nationwide.


He also enlightened the gathering about the activities and programs carried out by the Qatar Olympic Committee, the Aspire Academy and the ultra-modern sports facilities that Qatar has to offer.


The Ambassador also noted that 'preparations for the Qatar 2022 World Cup are being carried out at rapid pace and all the stadiums and infrastructure will be ready well ahead of time.'


The press conference was also attended by a representative of the Mexican Minister of Tourism, local mayors, popular sportsmen including former Mexican legend Manuel Negrete, prominent individuals from the Mexican community and representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.


The guests also had the opportunity to witness detailed models of the spectacular stadiums which are being prepared for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
