Aryna Sabalenka claimed the Qatar Total Open 2020 title in a thrilling 6-3, 6-3 match against two-time Grand Slam champion Petra Kvitova in the presence of His Highness The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha on Saturday night.
Having defeated world number one Ashleigh Barty to secure her place in the tournament final, Kvitova came up against 21-year-old Sabalenka, who had outclassed Russian veteran Svetlana Kuznetsova to earn her spot.
Within 29 minutes, Sabalenka had claimed the first set with a 6-3 win, before a repeat performance in the second set awarded the young Czech her second consecutive WTA Premier 5 title.
