The State of Qatar is taking several new measures to combat the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).


His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani chaired the meeting of the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management, following up on the developments and precautionary measures to combat the spread of COVID-19. HH the Amir gave directives to initiate a number of new measures as follows:


• All inbound flights to Qatar will be suspended for at least 14 days from 18 March. Flights will continue for cargo, passengers transiting through Doha to other destinations and returning Qatari citizens, who will be subject to a 14 day quarantine period on arrival.

• Halt all public transportation services, including the Metro and Karwa buses, effective Sunday 15 March from 10pm. 

• Allow the following categories of people to work remotely: employees over the age of 55, pregnant women, people suffering from chronic illnesses such as; diabetes, heart and kidney disease and high blood pressure.

• All public-school students will begin studying remotely from 22 March. As for students of private schools and universities, they will begin studying remotely according to their approved academic calendar and evaluation systems.
