Qatar Olympic Committee President HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani took part in the meeting of the IOC Commission for Public Affairs and Social Development through Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland on Saturday. His Excellency was nominated as Commission member. The IOC Public Affairs and Social development through Sport Commission aims to share QOC's recent developments and successes with IOC members and non-members.
HE Sheikh Joaan’s participation aimed to build and strengthen relationships between Qatar Olympic Committee and members of the Olympic Movement at all levels and explore opportunities to share knowledge and expertise with other national Olympic committees and Olympic organisations through agreements, exchange programmes and joint projects led by Mario Pescante and his deputy Luis Moreno.
The 35-member commission advises the IOC president and Executive Board on strategies to promote the role of sport and Olympism in society and to enhance the role of IOC as a thought leader and a strong actor on the international sporting stage as a key player in global development and peace.
