FIFA World Cup™ winning captain Cafu to appear on @GA4Good Instagram Live

Supreme Committe for Delivery & Legacy

FIFA World Cup™ winner Cafu will be a special guest during the Generation Amazing Instagram Live series this week. The Brazil legend will discuss leadership and the importance of staying positive during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) ambassador will discuss his captaincy secrets – which helped lead his country to glory in the 2002 FIFA World Cup™. He will also discuss the ways football can empower young leaders, and how Generation Amazing is helping to convey that through its international football for development programme.

Cafu’s appearance will take place on Wednesday, 29 April at 8 PM Doha time (GMT +3). He will appear on the @GA4Good Instagram account.

Generation Amazing’s Marketing & Communications Director, Moza Al Mohannadi, said: “We’re looking forward to hearing from our ambassador, the legendary footballer Cafu, about his experience as an incredible leader in the world of football but also as someone who has harnessed the positive values of football to help our youth at Generation Amazing.”

To date, more than 70,000 people have tuned in to Generation Amazing’s Instagram Live streams, which were set up during the COVID-19 pandemic to continue the programme’s mission of using football to teach important life skills and values to youth across Qatar, the region and internationally.

Cafu is the second FIFA World Cup™ winner to appear on the series following Xavi Hernández’s contribution earlier this month. Other stars to appear on @GA4Good include Mohamed Sadoon Al Kuwari and AS Roma’s Amalie Thestrup and Justin Kluivert.

In the coming weeks, SC ambassadors Samuel Eto’o and Tim Cahill will also take part in order to discuss their careers and share key messages about health and fitness.

Since becoming an SC ambassador, Cafu has taken an active role in promoting Generation Amazing. He helped deliver a special Generation Amazing session to underprivileged youth from Sao Paulo’s Eprocad Foundation during the Copa America in July 2019. During the event, Cafu teamed up with Abdul Azeez Sulaiman, a former Qatar 2022 construction worker and Generation Amazing ambassador from Ghana. The two struck up a friendship after first meeting in Doha and Sulaiman is looking forward to Cafu’s upcoming appearance on @GA4Good.

He said: “Meeting and collaborating with Cafu in Qatar and Brazil was a special experience for me and he inspired me in my own journey to become a leader with Generation Amazing. I am very excited to hear from my friend on the next Instagram Live.

Last year, Cafu attended the FIFA Legends Day during the inaugural Generation Amazing Festival in Doha, where he played a match involving football stars and Generation Amazing youth advocates.

Generation Amazing is the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ human and social legacy programme which harnesses the power of football to improve lives and create sustainable social development in communities.
