Gabi Fernández has announced via Instagram that he will be leaving Al Sadd after a two-year stint at the Qatari club. Though he has not yet made any of his future plans public, it is rumoured that the 36-year-old midfielder will be joining Atletico Madrid's managerial team, as Diego Simeone's assistant coach, following the departure of former goalkeeper German Burgos.
Gabi's statement:
"Good morning! I wanted to communicate that I will not continue from June 30 in Alsadd. I wanted to thank all the workers, playmates, coaching staff and all the fans as they have treated me these 2 years in which they have become my family. I wish you the best in the future, I will miss you! Gabi"
