Al Qadi grabs Big Tour win with Gibria-B

Promising Qatari rider Hamad Nasser Al Qadi yesterday guided Gibria-B to Big Tour win on the last day of the fifth round of the Longines Qatar Equestrian Tour. 

The hugely popular event is sponsored by The Social and Sport Contribution Fund.

On what was day two at Qatar Equestrian Federation’s (QEF) Indoor Arena, the 9-year-old mare clocked a time of 62.74 seconds (run against the clock) to seal the deal in the 130/140cm competition. 

Al Qadi won QR 11,250 for his top time. 

Mohammed Saeed Haidan, astride Miss Chili, finished in the second spot. Miss Chili clocked 63.65 seconds as Haidan won QR 9,000. 

Salmeen Sultan Al Suwaidi guided Aslan 99 to the third fastest time that was worth QR 6,750. Aslan 99 finished in a time of  64.60 seconds.

Seasoned rider Faleh Suwead Al Ajami (Casmir’s Son, 65.69 seconds, QR 4,500) and Saeed Nasser Al Qadi (Electra B, 67.79 seconds, QR3,150) completed the top five in a field of 16 riders. 

Earlier in the day, Faris Saad Al Qahtani exhibited a brilliant run with Verenince 2 to claim the top spot in the Open Class. 

Verenince 2, aged 10, clocked 55.46 seconds as Al Qahtani won QR6,250 in the 115/120cm competition.

Salman Sultan Al Suwaidi, astride Guilder’s Empire Of The Sun, finished in second place worth QR5,000. Guilder’s Empire Of The Sun clocked  64.40 seconds. 

Nasser Al Ghazali also impressed with What A Pleasure to secure the third place. What A Pleasure clocked 67.01 seconds as Al Ghazali won QR3,750.

Abdullah Ali Al Ajeil (Dow Jones 54, 4 faults, 56.90 seconds, QR 2,500) and Mohammed Abdulla Juma (Janny, 4 faults, 59.73 seconds, QR1,750) completed the top five. 

Hamad Abdul-Rahman Al Attiyah, Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee and the Qatar and Asian Equestrian Federations, Omar Al Mannai, Vice President of the LOC, Badr Muhammad Al Darwish, Member of the Supreme Organizing Committee of the Championship, and Secretary General of the Asian Equestrian Federation, and Ali Yousef Al Rumaihi, Director of the Longines Qatar Equestrian Tour, were present during the two-day event. 

The next round will be held Al Shaqab Arena from Dec 10-12.
